.nu registry update

got this e-mail:

Effective June 10 at 12:01 UTC, .NU Domain will revise its policies and begin accepting the registration of numeric domain names using numbers or numbers and dashes - such as 10-4.nu, 212.nu or 3663.nu (the English word “food.nu” on a phone keypad.)

Up until now, .NU Domain’s policies have generally restricted the registration of number-only and number-and-hyphen domains.

Starting June 10, customers can apply to register almost any numeric .nu domain name. The registration is done the usual way, through .NU Domain’s accredited Registrars or directly on the .NU Domain website at http://www.nunames.nu

.NU Domain’s Numeric Names Service will have two classes of domain names:

1. A Premium Numeric Name consisting of just 3 characters (like 212.nu), with the annual price of 100 EU or 1 000 SEK; and

2. A Standard Numeric Name consisting of any combination of numbers and hyphens up to 63 characters long, with the annual price of 30 EU or 300 SEK.

Registrations of the numeric .nu names will be granted on a first-come-first-served basis, and can be made for a minimum of a one-year period.

The changes in policy and the new prices are effective immediately for both registrations, renewals and registrar and ownership transfers. The changes have been posted on the .NU Website at http://www.nunames.nu/about/terms.cfm (policies) and http://www.nunames.nu/pricing.cfm (prices).

Names that are five numeric characters long, which are commonly used as postal codes, and certain other numeric names of high public or private interest, including 411.nu, 888.nu, and others will not be released for registration during the June 10 Landrush period. .NU Domain will make them available for registration at a later time.
